Circuit Strike. One 2.0 iPhone iPod Touch
As previously noted, Circuit Strike. One is a highly anticipated top down shooter that puts you in control of a ship inside a Neuromancer-styled computer network, going head-to-head against sys admins who send turrets, drones, ships, trace routes and intelligent AI after you. The twist: The zero-gravity gaming arena affects your ship with inertia-based physics.
The U.S.-based developer Shay Chasey, signed as Hallucinogen.grenade and better known under the H.grenade moniker, enhanced the game with Utility, a synthetic engine that syncs visuals to sounds and in-game soundtrack (composed by DJ Vitamindevo and Bianca Dino).
It also creates a pulsing sound envelope that reacts to action by mixing and syncing sound effects and vocal samples to visuals. This results in a lively visual feast wrapped around a compelling soundscape that changes as you play.
Think of the game as Rez meets Asteroids meets Geometry Wars. That said, think twice before stepping on a thrust control. Drawn by visceral graphics and fooled by high-paced shooters played in the past, I found myself repeatedly losing all three lives in Circuit Strike. One in under a minute.
